Employees expect a lower salary than they finally receive

and people with university a degree receive on average 30% higher salary than someone with only secondary school education.

The extensive survey of salaries by Merces indicates that domestic uzemští employees in the first quarter of 2010 expected a salary of 18,779 crowns, which is about 19% less than the average they finally get. It is a manifestation of adaptation to the crisis, where Czechs are aware of risk, which is a completely different situation than for example in the Slovak Republic, where local employees ask for higher wages than what is market realistic.
Even in Prague, where the average wage is 29,000 crowns, the expected salary is 22,879 crowns. This phenomenon is explained by Miroslav Dravecký, a project manager of this salary survey provided by Merces.cz. This is the result of people who move from the regions to Prague. People are adjusting the salary expectations of their level of wages in the regions from which they originate and are considerably lower than salaries in Prague.

The survey, which analyzed 250,000 people, shows, among other things, that college students follow through loss of earnings for the period of study for 11 years.
What does this mean in numbers?
A higher degree means an average 30% higher earning during the active career compared to someone with a secondary school diploma, and up to 41% more earnings compared to someone with secondary school education but without graduation. Someone with university education has an average salary of 29 900 CZK, someone with a secondary school diploma an average salary of 20 900 CZK and without secondary school graduation an average salary of 17 500 CZK.
